Scarce gift edition of T.E. Lawrence's classic autobiography, an abridged form of The Seven Pillars of Wisdom. Though marked as a "first printing in America" on the copyright, this is the second U.S. edition. This so-called "gift edition" is noted by its distinct end papers from a design by Kennington. Further there are 24 plate illustrations (as opposed to 15 in the first edition), as well as 18 black and white line drawings taken from the Subscriber's Edition of The Seven Pillars of Wisdom that are not present in other printings. Copy is in very good+ condition. Absolutely minimal wear to the buckram cloth boards. Small and slight mark of discolouration to the top of the front board. Interior is clean and unmarked with a solid, tight binding. Untrimmed pages, many unopened. Fold-out map at rear is securely attached. Dust jacket is very good also. Some minor edge wear and creasing. Faint sunning to the spine. Wrapped in protective jacket cover. A very handsome copy of a rare and desirable text.
