Complete three volume set of the hardcover first edition of Runciman's monumental history of the Crusades. Volume I: The First Crusade and the Foundation of the Kingdom of Jerusalem (377 pp.) is the fifth impression (1957); Volume II: The Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Frankish East 1100-1187 (523 pp.) is the third impression (1957); Volume III: The Kingdom of Acre and the Later Crusades (530 pp.) is the second impression (1955). All volumes are in uniformly very good+ condition, verging on near fine. Absolutely minimal wear to the red cloth boards. Interiors are clean and unmarked with tight, solid bindings. Fold-out map at rear of Volume III in excellent shape. Dust jackets are all very good with only some very faint wear to the edges. Price clipping to jacket of Volume III. All jackets now wrapped in protective plastic covers. A very handsome exemplar of a highly desirable set.
