First Canadian edition of Scott's account of his ill-fated journey to the South Pole. Volume I consists of the journals of Captain Scott. Volume II consists of "the reports of the journeys and the scientific work undertaken by Dr. E.A. Wilson and the surviving members of the expedition". Illustrated throughout with photogravure frontispieces, six original sketches in photogravure by Dr. E.A. Wilson, 18 coloured plates, and 260 full page and smaller illustrations. Fold-out map at rear. Copy is in very good condition. Minimal wear to the dark blue cloth boards of both volumes. Gilt to top page edge still bright. Interiors are clean and unmarked save for former owner's name neatly inked on the front free end paper of Volume I. Bindings solid and tight. A wonderfully preserved exemplar of a scarce and highly desirable set.
