Two volume set of Mandeville's Travels, a classic of medieval European travel narratives. Includes the Egerton Text (in English), the Paris Text (in French), and the Bodleian M.S. (in English), and supplementary material translated from Von Diemeringen's German version and the Vulgate Latin version. Fold out map at rear of Vol. I. Both volumes in very good condition. Absolutely minimal wear to the blue cloth boards. Spines somewhat faded - Vol. I more so - with light foxing top page edges and end papers. Interiors are both immaculate with all leaves unmarked. Hinge visible between pp. 128 and 129 of Vol. I, and frontis. of Vol. I is slightly loose, but bindings are both still solid and secure. Vol. II has a small, closed tear to the inside of the front free end paper. Else, a very handsome copy of this fascinating set.
