Hardcover (good)

Four volume set of the Geographical Handbooks on Germany published by Britain's Naval Intelligence Division. Complete with the unfortunate exception of one missing map. Volume I: Physical Geography (BR 529; January 1944) in good to very good condition. Some minor general wear to the orange cloth boards, particularly to the edges (this volume is slightly darker in colour than the other three). Small "15" inked on cover, but the interior is clean and unmarked. Binding tight and secure. Volume I lacks the map of Germany; geological map of Germany is present in Volume III. Volume II: History and Administration (BR 529a; March 1944) in similar condition. Less edge wear than Volume I, but the spine text is a bit more faded. Boards are lighter brown compared to I's russet. Small numbers inked on cover. Interior is similarly very good with all leaves clean and unmarked. Volume III: Economic Geography (BR 529b; November 1944) also in very good condition. Fading to outward edge of the front board. Some very minor fraying to slightly bumped corners. Small "15" inked on cover. Interior is clean and unmarked. Map in pouch at back (note several blank pages after the index have been cut in order to accommodate the map). Volume IV: Ports and Communications (BR 529c; January 1945) in similar condition. A bit of spotting on the spine, which is somewhat faded. Interior clean and unmarked. A fascinating historical artifact which offers a wealth of information for researchers and enthusiasts.
