Translation of the two Ragman Rolls pertaining to the town of Stamford in Lincolnshire. Originally part of an inquiry by Edward I into the administration of his realm, these documents provide a wealth of information on the social, political, and economic history of late thirteenth-century England. Translated and modernized with an extensive introduction by Roffe. Copy is in very good+ condition, verging on near fine. Absolutely minimal wear to the card wraps save for some faint bumping to the outside corners. Interior is clean and unmarked with a tight, solid binding.
