Translation of letters written by French missionaries in nineteenth century Lesotho (then Basutoland) that paint a history of the colonization of the southern African country. Includes numerous fold out maps. Copy is in very good condition. Some minor edge wear to the blue leather boards. Interior is immaculate: all leaves clean and unmarked. Virtually as new. Dust jacket is very good also with some minor edge wear and scuffing. Small, closed tear of approx. 1 cm at rear base of spine. Wrapped in protective Brodart cover. A very handsome copy of a scarce title.
