London: Hodder & Stoughton, c1920s.
267 pp.; 20 × 15 × 4 cm
Hardcover (good); No dust jacket
Early reprint of Barrie's 1911 novel, the first novelization of the iconic Peter Pan character introduced in his 1904 stage play "Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up". Undated, this copy was presumably printed in the early 1920s: the latest work by Barrie in the listed bibliography is 1920's Mary Rose and the gift inscription on the second page is dated February 7, 1926. Illustrated with several plate illustrations by F.D. Bedford. Copy is in good condition. Wear to the blue cloth boards. Fraying to the corners. Decoration on the cover and the spine is still fairly bright. Interior is clean and unmarked save for aforementioned gift inscription. Binding is still solid, although the middle hinge is visible. Still, a nice copy of a handsome antique edition of this classic.
