Delightful over-sized collection of stories about the gang of anthropomorphized fruits and vegetables written and illustrated by Jayne Fisher, "Ladybird's youngest author", who began writing the stories with their inimitable felt-tip pen illustrations at the age of 9. Additional material based on her characters by the adult authors Lynne Bradbury and Graham Marlow. Copy is in very good condition. Minimal wear to the illustrated boards. Slight bumping to the corners. Interior is clean and unmarked save for a child's gift dedication on the copyright page. Binding solid and tight. No dust jacket, as issued. A very lovely copy of an extremely scarce book sure to be much-beloved by nostalgic British Generation X-ers!
