First printing of the first Canadian edition of Robertson Davies' classic novel. Copyright dated 1951 with no indication of subsequent printings. Copy is in very good condition. Minimal wear to the green cloth boards. Edges sunned. Interior is clean and unmarked with a solid, square binding. Dust jacket designed by Grant MacDonald in fair to good condition. $3.00 price marked on front flap. Some edge wear and creasing. Top and bottom of the jacket spine have been neatly reinforced with tape. Small thin slit of approx. 2 cm from wear where front flap folds over the front board. Jacket now wrapped in protective Brodart cover.
