Elements of the Philosophy of the Human Mind
Stewart, Dugald
Battleborough, VT: William Fessenden, 1813. 3rd US ed.
509 pp.; 21.5 x 13 x 4 cm
Hardcover (good)

Third American edition of Stewart's 1792 philosophy text. The first volume of what would end up being a three volume work by the Scottish philosopher and mathematician Stewart, an important figure in the Scottish Enlightenment. Copy is in good+ condition. Some wear and scuffing to the leather boards. Tiny portion of loss to the base of the spine. Interior is very good indeed. Clean and unmarked save former owner's inscription on front end paper. Spot staining on a handful of pages in the middle. Else the text block is remarkably well preserved. Marble decoration to the page edges slightly faded. Binding is solid and very tight, but it appears that one or two pages from the very front have been neatly removed. Else a handsome copy of a rare, antique text.
