Third printing of the first edition of Tolkien and Gordon's 1925 edition of the seminal Middle English text Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. This printing precedes by a year the publication of The Hobbit which would catapult Tolkien from a well-respected philologist into a literary sensation. This copy is in very good condition. Minimal wear to the green cloth boards save for some wear to the top and base of the spine. Former owner's book plate and neatly inked name on front end papers. Else interior is clean and unmarked with a tight, solid binding.
